Close to Marmaris, yet far from the world. Çiftlik is a calm, sheltered cove where green embraces the sea. Pine forests reach down to the shoreline, and the water is crystal clear.

Mornings begin with a walk along the pine-forest trail before breakfast — you'll want to wake early to catch that silent moment when the sun touches the sea. Evenings bring a table full of the freshest Aegean seafood at Azmak Restaurant. Çiftlik is a stop that is both tranquil and full of life.

The ancient city of Loryma, dating to the 7th century BC — known today as Bozukkale — has dominated this bay throughout history. Carian, Persian, Rhodian and Roman civilisations each passed through, each leaving a mark. The magnificent castle ruins at the entrance to the cove reveal the strategic importance of this place in its time.

Mornings begin with a climb to the castle before anyone else stirs. The view from the walls of Loryma — across the Aegean to the Greek islands on the opposite shore — is difficult to put into words.

This quiet village on the Bozburun Peninsula is one of the most genuine corners of the Aegean. A place where the traditional craft of wooden boat-building is still carried on, where gulet masters still work. The pace of the town is slow, the people warm.

Before breakfast, we walk the historic Carian Trail from Söğüt to Saranda — alongside rock tombs in the sea, historic chapels, and coves hidden among the cliffs. We moor at the jetty of Octopus Restaurant, where we take our evening meals and morning breakfasts. One of Söğüt's most celebrated restaurants, Octopus offers fresh seafood and a warm atmosphere — one of the most beautiful stops of this voyage.

This shallow lagoon stretching into the Bozburun Peninsula is one of those rare places where crowds fade and time moves slowly. Green hills press right up behind the bay, and the water is so shallow that as you swim into the cove you feel the sand beneath your feet.

Orhaniye is also our meeting and departure point — the journey begins here and returns here. In the bay's famous shallows, a white sandbar rises through the water, shallow enough to walk on, surrounded by vivid blue on every side. That first swim carries a feeling all its own.
Kocabahçe KoyuKocabahçe Cove
Kocabahçe, rota üzerindeki en el değmemiş koylardan biri. Çam ve zeytin ormanlarının eteklediği bu küçük koy, bir geceliğine demirleyip soluklandığımız yerlerden biri. Restoran isklesine bağlanıyoruz — akşam yemeği kıyıdan, sabah uyanış sessiz ve dingin.
Kocabahçe is one of the most unspoilt coves on the route. Nestled between pine and olive groves, this small bay is one of our overnight stops. We moor at the restaurant jetty — dinner steps from the shore, mornings quiet and still.
Suyun rengi burada başka türlü — yeşilimsi bir turkuaz, güneşe göre renk değiştiriyor. Yüzdükten sonra güvertede uzanmak, rüzgarı dinlemek — bunun için başka bir kelime yok, sadece iyi hissettiriyor.
The colour of the water here is different — a greenish turquoise that shifts with the light. After a swim, lying on deck and listening to the wind — there's no other word for it, it simply feels good.

Selimiye, Söğüt gibi ahşap tekne yapımının köklü geleneği taşıyan bir köy. Kasabanın küçük limanında birkaç tekne ve birkaç balıkçı — ama akşam olunca kıyı boyunca masalar diziliyor, ışıklar yanıyor.
Selimiye is a village with a deep-rooted tradition of wooden boat building, much like Söğüt. In the small harbour a few boats, a few fishermen — but come evening, tables line the waterfront and the lights come on.
Balıkçılardan günün tutuğunu alıp pişirtmek mümkün. Ege'nin o basit ama derin mutfağı — zeytinyağı, taze ot, deniz kokusu. Selimiye'de bir akşam yemeği bu rotanın en iyi hatıralarından biri oluyor.
You can buy the day's catch from the fishermen and have it cooked. That simple but profound Aegean cuisine — olive oil, fresh herbs, the scent of the sea. A dinner in Selimiye becomes one of the finest memories of this whole route.
